I love writing, but apparently I don't have any talent, or I can't find it (if it's something you can find), so my dream of becoming a writer is just that. I'm a lawyer now (yup, no kidding).
Anyway, I love books, music, movies, pizza, lemon pie and people with good sense of humor. If you don't have any, if you make Mary Bennet look funny, interesting and witty, or if you're a fanatic that's still not acquainted with the fact that people have their own personal taste and therefore, their own opinions about books, music, movies, etc., so you can't bear that another person dislikes your favorite book, song, movie, etc., then please don't talk to me. Let's save the awkwardness :)

Esto me suena a hiperglucemia llorosa. Nunca se me dio por ver la película. La intención de leerlo es aún mucho más pequeña. Por ahora, paso.
I remember my reaction. This book was an assignment. I had to read it for my literature class. So, my only motivation for finishing this book was the test. There was going to be a test. I repeated to myself: “I HAVE TO FINISH IT. Finish. FINISH the damn thing. Open your eyes, you can do it. Forget naps, forget actually enjoying reading a book and finish this one”. (I was a bit competitive at school).So, I managed to read the whole thing. And did well on my exam. AND I made a promise: never force myself to read a book I dislike. I mean, I can try it out, put my prejudices aside and see what’s all the hype about, BUT if I don’t enjoy those few chapters, I won’t push myself to finish it. I don’t care being call a quitter (?) Reading should be having an amazing time with a book, and I read for myself, not to please anybody… So why would I make that feeling of actually physical and mental pain last? Unless it’s an assignment, I won’t do it.Well, I should say something about the book, right? It’s considered one of the first (if not the first) Argentinian tales. It’s about, mostly, a day in a slaughterhouse of Buenos Aires, in the context of a flood that causes economic problems. Echeverría’s story symbolizes the political atmosphere of the early 19th century, during Rosas’ dictatorship. So, there’s a lot of issues that I usually find interesting: political power and social discrimination, fighting the system with new ideas, basically injustice and new ways of overcoming it, an excessively controlling government that causes differences among the citizens and, often, violent reactions (ringing any bells?), a political figure with a demagogic speech (bells, bells), a kind of silent opposition (BELLS) that must disappear completely, the loss of individuality, etc. It’s all there. So why did I find it so tedious? Maybe because I wasn't used to that writing style. And the long, too long descriptions about everything. Two stars for now; I have to re-read it just to be certain. But I don't see that happening any time soon.
Este autor no quiso que su obra se publicara. "-Max, ¡destruí todo!" ... Max no escuchó, afortunadamente para nosotros. Supongo que tendría aún más recelo sobre su diario íntimo (?). ¿Quién querría que cualquier persona tenga acceso a lo que escribiste para tus ojos y nada más que tus ojos? Tus pensamientos más intensos por ser los reales, o sueños desquiciados que no comentarías con nadie por temor a ser medicado inmediatamente; opiniones, inquietudes, sentimientos. Todo lo que te forma.Debería respetar eso ¿no? Debería darle ese beneficio a uno de los escritores que más estimo y admiro (sin competir con Annie Wilkes; no, no). No obstante, y lamentablemente, no está para dar su opinión. Y no puedo basarme en meras conjeturas... Indicios que no llevan a una conclusión firme. Aparte, ya está publicado. Sería un desperdicio de papel. Pienso también en los árboles. Así que, to the to-read shelf!

No estoy en fase de atracción por literatura vampiresca, lobezca, grifesca, chupacabresca, y cualquier otro ser similar. Si, tras que no me interesa demasiado la historia, está pobremente escrita... ¡Y sí! También me estoy dejando llevar por reseñas ajenas que no han resultado muy positivas. Prefiero ocupar esos días con otra cosa. Paso.

Lydia Bennet's Story: A sequel to Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice
Ugh. Remito a pre-review de [b:Mr. Darcy's Diary|99297|Mr. Darcy's Diary (Jane Austen Heroes, #1)|Amanda Grange|http://d202m5krfqbpi5.cloudfront.net/books/1348917755s/99297.jpg|95730], agregando que Lydia siempre fue el personaje que menos me simpatizó, así que, egoístamente, no me interesa cómo siguió su vida con Wickham, más allá de lo escrito por Austen: mudándose frecuentemente, gastando lo que no tenían, y el cariño que, en ambos casos, fue desapareciendo hasta ser mera indiferencia. Así que, nah huh.

Bah! Recién me acordé de este libro. Y lo primero que me vino a la mente (?) Seriamente:Tengo que leer el libro de una de mis películas de cabecera. Me genera gran incertidumbre. Pronto, Mario. Pronto....Ok. Pensándolo bien, y viendo mis currently-reading, no tan pronto.
Mr Darcy's Diary
Siempre me cuesta leer algo relacionado sobre una de mis novelas favoritas y su genial autora. Ella supo manejar una historia que no sólo se centra en lo romántico, agrega otros aspectos relevantes como la vida de una mujer en la sociedad inglesa del siglo XVIII, relaciones familiares, el prejuicio ante lo desconocido, y todo eso, con un estilo que abunda en gracia e ingenio. ¿Qué más se puede pedir? Entonces, cuando veo que sacan algún libro sobre lo que pensaba Lizzy mientras Darcy le proponía matrimonio, o lo que pensaba Darcy mientras le confesaba sus sentimientos, o lo que pensaba Caroline Bingley sobre Lizzy o Lizzy sobre Caroline o Mr. Collins sobre Lizzy, o Jane sobre Wickham, etc., etc... Arrrgh. Me pongo a la defensiva. Leer eso en un idioma diferente, con un estilo diferente, desde una persona diferente, me es difícil. Leí sobre este libro (asintiendo con la cabeza como si lo hubiera leído o.O) y, por ahora, PASO.
Y, ya que estamos... me anoto la inspiración de Goodfellas. Algún día, Nick.

ActualizaciónNo soy de leer este tipo de libros. Si no fuera por Goodreads, probablemente nunca lo hubiera conocido (como otros 300 que tengo en la eterna pila de to-read). Al menos, de título. Hasta ahora, leí dos de los célebres YA, o Y/A o como sea. Uno me pareció un folleto y el otro me está gustando, así que no me voy a cerrar a todas las posibilidades. Salvo que haya leído uno y no me haya gustado, no soy de forzarme a terminar un libro/serie que detesto. Lo dejo como posibilidad :D19.09.13Ya leí demasiado sobre este libro. Nunca fui de "mucha acción sin importar cómo esté escrita al punto de que las contradicciones te desafíen el inocuo sentido común". Así que, un gran "no por ahora, quién sabe en diez años". Hay otros libros que quiero leer YA -> (2hs después) recién pesco la ironía. Bueno, "AHORA".Moving on.
Nah. Tengo una sobredosis de vampiros, magos y muchachitos lobo que no tolero. Están en todos los medios y soportes posibles. Sí, evidentemente estoy juzgando un libro por su portada. O título, mejor dicho. Pero, en este caso, me da igual :/ Me niego. Me rehúso. ¡Paso!

Con el primero creo que me bastó. Tampoco creo que vaya a probar con The Mortal Instruments. Estas cosas no pueden forzarse; entiendo que no congeniamos y ya.
I'm not into teary girly pinky-pink (?) women's fiction, romance, chick lit (I hate that term) and all that. So I'd better let this one go.
Of Human Bondage
Este es un "tal vez". Es un "si por obras del destino que no sé si existe, cae sobre mí obligándome a ser leído". Es un "estemm quizás". Un "mucho ruido pero ¿habrá suficientes nueces?" Tendría que agregar algunos de esos shelves.Por los comentarios, opiniones y cosas del argumento que leí (positivos y negativos), parafraseando a la banda uruguaya, no me va a gustar. Pero ¡no! Hace bastante que intento dejar las estructuras y prejuicios y leer antes de formar opiniones. Aunque lea prejuiciosamente..., un poquito, a veces, tengo que leer. El año que viene, seguro. Definitivamente. Probablemente.
